". . . . we're not in Kansas anymore"

It has been an interesting day talking about Pussy Riot and the fervor surrounding the Russian court's decision to impose a two-year stay in a penal colony. The stiff punishment was handed down by a Moscow judge, Marina Syrova, who described the women as posing a danger to society and said they had committed “grave crimes” including “the insult and humiliation of the Christian faith and inciting religious hatred.”

I've been laughing out loud at the people who are upset over the forfeiture of rights and the unequal justice afforded these women. Where do you think they (pussy Riot) are, Topeka?!
"aw, that's not right", "those girls had their rights taken away", "there are laws against that ya know". NOT IN RUSSIA! People are so concerned with how things should be and knowing that their way is the best way that they dismiss other cultures and other ideas concerning "danger to society". People in the west embrace governmental and societal workings as normal and desirable.
"It may not be perfect but it is the best there is". Really? (I'm not here to debate this)

Is Pussy Riot the leading edge of the New Russian Revolution? Are we to be witness to the next steps towards the end? In the past few years we have seen what is now known as Arab Spring shake the Middle East and by association, the world. Humans have  begun to find their voice. The response from the Russian people was in the form of protest and demonstration, just as in the Middle East. The Russian authorities responded as expected with traditional riot police and dozens of bloodied citizens. Honestly, did you expect something different? I guess we're talking about, the way things are versus the way things ought to be. WAKE UP! Wishing won't make it true. Or will it? It has got to start somewhere. Why not offend the church? Why not offend the government? Of course the may be some collateral damage but, we're good right?

What's going to happen next? A roar then a whimper? Does this die out with the the resolution of the Presidential election? Putin wins and Russia loses? Come on , "What do you think?".
